The road to King River Ranch is undoubtedly one of the most unlikely journeys in the history of the Texas Hill Country, perhaps the most quintessentially Texan story of them all. The very land upon which the existing ranch was built tells the story of prosperity and well-being. It is on this site where generations of Comanche settlements chose to live and thrive, evidenced by the countless arrowheads and artifacts found here dating back millennia. The land was first developed by a direct descendant of Texas Rangers in 1999. It was then purchased by a successful and kind-hearted oilman from Austin and also coincidentally a descendant of Texas Rangers, in fact, a former president of the Texas Rangers Heritage Foundation. From this illustrious story, deeply rooted in Texas’ rich past, King River Ranch was born.
In July 2014, David Hahn purchased the ranch after an exhaustive search for the site of a perfect Hill Country wedding venue. After a year of relentless searching, he relocated from California to Texas with his family and his company Willem-Aidan, a global event floral and décor design house based in Beverly Hills, CA, and began a new life in the prettiest land he had ever seen. Like the many inhabitants before him who felt the subtle magic of this place upon first gaze, he also knew that there was no need to look any further. Not only did it work perfectly as a venue with an optimal layout for easy guest and vendor access, magnificently diverse and breathtaking views, and most importantly, its ideal location, he instantly felt the soothing energy that pervades the very air of this enchanted part of the great Pedernales River Valley. As anyone who has been to King River Ranch will tell you, it is an energy of health, bliss and love.
